WNBA fans will soon see a familiar face among the Phoenix Suns broadcast team. Four-time WNBA All-Star and Phoenix Mercury guard Skylar Diggins-Smith will be joining Tom Leander, Tom Chambers, Eddie Johnson and Kevin Ray as a guest analyst throughout the rest of the NBA season.
Diggins-Smith will make her debut on the Suns pregame show on FOX Sports Arizona ahead of the team’s match-up against the Golden State Warriors at 7:30 p.m. PT this evening, March 4.
She’ll bring a unique perspective to her analysis, being an active professional basketball player with an impressive career in the books so far.
Diggins-Smith is a do-it-all playmaker, ranking in the top 10 in steals three times in the WNBA (2014, 2017, 2018) and in scoring and assists four times (2014, 2017, 2018, 2020). She was drafted in 2013 by the Tulsa Shock before ending up in Phoenix ahead of the 2020 season. The 5’9 guard is one of only two players in the league to rank in the top 10 in both scoring and assists in the same season at least four times. The other player is her teammate, Diana Taurasi, who has done it five times (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020).
Last year, Diggins-Smith helped lead the Mercury to the second round of the playoffs in the WNBA bubble. Her season was highlighted by her 3,000th career point on September 5 against the New York Liberty. The achievement made her the fastest player in league history to reach 3,000 points, 900 assists and 500 rebounds.
