The 2025 WNBA MVP race is heating up, and there’s no easy pick between Alyssa Thomas, Napheesa Collier and A’ja Wilson. “I think all three…have great cases,” Chelsea Leite explained, noting the different ways each candidate impacts their team. Wilson is the anchor of the Aces, Collier leads the league’s best team, and Thomas “is slept on as an MVP candidate” because her all-around style doesn’t generate the same flashy stat lines. Still, Leite admitted, “I’m leaning towards Napheesa, just because she’s had such a great all-around season,” while keeping the door open for the final weeks to shape the race.
Turning to Las Vegas, Leite said the Aces were always bound to find their footing: “Inevitable is the word I’ve been using about this Aces team all season long.” Despite early struggles, Leite wasn’t surprised they’ve turned things around, crediting head coach Becky Hammon’s decision to bring Jewell Loyd off the bench and the steady play of Jackie Young. At the center of it all remains Wilson: “When you have A’ja Wilson on your team, you always have a chance of winning.”
