“Becoming Caitlin Clark” is out now!
Howard Megdal’s newest book is here! “Becoming Caitlin Clark: The Unknown Origin Story of a Modern Basketball Superstar” captures both the historic nature of Clark’s rise and the critical context over the previous century that helped make it possible, including interviews with Clark, Lisa Bluder (who also wrote the foreword), C. Vivian Stringer, Jan Jensen, Molly Kazmer and many others.
Early on, they discussed the Connecticut Sun, who have the most free agents available out of any team.
“I think I would love to see them run it back,” Sohi said. “Maybe just try to bring Emma Meeseman, who has a relationship with their new coach and see if that actually pushes them over the edge. Because if I’m the Connecticut Sun, I just don’t see a lot of upside into just letting a whole bunch of unrestricted free agents walk right now.”
Later on, the newest WNBA franchise, the Golden State Valkyries, were a point of discussion.
“I feel like they’re a team that could end up just defining free agency, running the table and getting a bunch of players,” Sohi said. “Or they could actually just end up somewhat empty-handed, because it really just depends on how much faith players want to put in this new organization.”
