The Sunday Notes column goes on hiatus

You’ll just have to enjoy Easter and Passover without me

We need to take a break. It’s not you, it’s me. And this 9,000-word WNBA Draft board I’m writing and editing.

The beloved Hunter Cruse and Lincoln Shafer are also writing our 2024 WNBA Draft board of course, and it’s going to be our best yet. Or at least our most deranged, judging by the player comps we’ve been drafting up1: “Karima Christmas-Kelly with a better jumper,” “Kemba Walker without an off-ball game,” “if Tully Bevilaqua was a reluctant shooter” and “Montrezl Harrell with a 3-pointer” are just scratching the surface. We’ve got nearly two dozen names, some of whom are household names and some you probably only know if you’re a regular listener to our Saturday podcasts, but either way our future value projections may surprise you.

This time apart will be good for both of us. For me, I’ll have time to not only do the 2024 WNBA Draft board, but get our post-2024 draft board ready for its April release. You’ll have time to enjoy March Madness and fully decompress before enjoying the WNBA Draft, and then decompress again before that second board (which could include as many as three dozen names! I am very excited).

We both have bright futures. Just not together, at least for now. Maybe we’ll get together sometime in the future and pick up where we left off. How does early May, during the WNBA preseason, sound? Until then, just enjoy the free time during this hiatus.

Oh, and happy Selection Sunday.
