“We are talking about these training camps and roster crunches, with training camps beginning on Sunday,” Powell said. “There is ample space for players in camp to make their mark and try to make the toughest league in American pro sports, and sure, we have expansion this year, but the WNBA remains the most difficult league to make.”
First up, Jackie and Tony examine the toughest camps to make in the Indiana Fever, Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty and Chicago Sky. Then they shift focus to the middle of the pack, which includes the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm. Later, the pair ran through some competitive camps that provide younger players, including some of the latest WNBA Draftees, with more opportunities like the Washington Mystics, Dallas Wings, Connecticut Sun, Phoenix Mercury and the Golden State Valkyries.
“Do the Mystics know they’re allowed to add players in the off season?” East added. “That leads us to their camp here, a lot of familiar faces in Washington…. Congratulations to the holdovers. Their team is very young, and I think they’re going to prioritize those draft picks.”
