Coach Lisa Bluder talks about the joy of coaching this team year after year:

“Well, first of all, Howard, we do have fireworks before our games. And so, you know, Carver-Hawkeye Arena is an amazing place to watch games and our attendance is off the charts. We ended the season last year with three straight sellouts, 15,400 people in Carver. So yeah, come for the fireworks. You know, I like that analogy, Howard. But really, it is such a joy for me to be able to have three years in a row the same starting lineup. I mean, nobody gets that kind of consistency. It’s unheard of, really.”

Lisa Bluder talks about Iowa’s defensive plans for this season and what grade she would give last year’s team:

“Oh, that’s funny. I’d say we were maybe a C plus; we might have gotten there. Last year, we made a huge jump; we went up like 100 spots in Synergy from two years ago to last year’s season. But there’s work to be done still and that’s what’s exciting is we have one of the top offensive teams in the country. But if we can just now, okay, let’s try to get to a B minus this year and let’s try to also work on our rebounding. We can get more offensive and defensive rebounds is another area that we’re really trying to stress with our program this year.”
