Locked on Women’s Basketball: Does Han Xu even have a ceiling?
It's been quite impressive as to how this team has adjusted amid the fact that there are still three impact players not able to play
It’s time for another episode of the Locked on Women’s Basketball podcast. This episode features host Howard Megdal and The Next New York Liberty beat reporter Jackie Powell. The two discuss Han Xu’s recent success with the Liberty.
Jackie talks about New York having an impressive start without three key players:
“Yeah, I mean, I experienced a little bit of the winning at the beginning of last season, that 5-1 start. And then things went downhill from there. And this year, it’s been a bit of the inverse of 2021. It’s been quite impressive as to how this team has adjusted amid the fact that there are still three impact players not able to play.”
The Next, a 24/7/365 women’s basketball newsroom
The Next: A basketball newsroom brought to you by The IX. 24/7/365 women’s basketball coverage, written, edited and photographed by our young, diverse staff and dedicated to breaking news, analysis, historical deep dives and projections about the game we love.
Jackie talks about Han Xu’s impact on the Liberty in the last three games:
“I think it’s a bunch of things. I think she’s a little bit stronger and a little bit more mature. I think she has a coach that knows exactly the types of situations to put her in. She has a coach who for eight years worked with a very dominant and tall post player. It is also that you have on that coaching staff a player development infrastructure. You have well renowned coaches that are proven when it comes to helping someone like Han Xu get better at their footwork.”
