Coach Shauna Green talks about the development of the team:

“This team, it just kind of developed. I don’t know if there’s a time, or I didn’t realize how quickly we could develop. I got the job in late spring and then had five returners and added a couple of transfers, a few transfers and I give our kids a ton of credit, just with how they bought in from day one and took ownership and the relationship pieces.

We’re on a new team, a new staff and trying to get to know each other off the court. So we could do the things that we wanted to on the court. So, I never put a timetable on any of this.”

Shauna Green talks about her defensive philosophy and transition:

“So, at Dayton, literally, we did not change one thing from Dayton’s philosophy to here nothing, from we defend first, then we want to rebound. And then we want to run. So we’ve been like, you nailed it. For the last six years, we’ve been a Top 25 team, defensive field goal percentage and defensive rebounding.

And that leads to us being able to play really, really fast in our Phoenix transition where we’re trying to score in six seconds or less if we can, and then we’ll get it out and run our stuff. And we got a ton of different things we do on the half court.”
