BIG EAST tournament at Mohegan Sun through 2026

The BIG EAST announced a three-year extension with Mohegan Sun Arena, home of the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun. The extension solidifies the 10,000-seat venue in Uncasville, CT as the home of the BIG EAST women’s basketball tournament through the 2026 season.

”We are incredibly excited to announce the extension of our partnership with the BIG EAST Conference,” said Connecticut Sun President, Jen Rizzotti. “Hosting one of the best women’s basketball conference tournaments in the country here at Mohegan Sun Arena is a terrific opportunity to celebrate the talented young women that compete in the BIG EAST conference and showcase high level basketball in an electric environment. The fans in Connecticut have shown decades-long commitment to women’s basketball with their support of both the UConn Huskies and the Connecticut Sun. We look forward to welcoming them and all fans of the BIG EAST back to Mohegan Sun to enjoy all that we have to offer.”

Last season’s BIG EAST tournament saw the highest attendance since 2013, when the tournament was hosted by the XL Center in Hartford, CT. That season, Notre Dame defeated the UConn Huskies 61-59 in a thrilling BIG EAST tournament final. The following season, conference realignment sent Notre Dame to the ACC and the Huskies joined the American Athletic Conference (AAC). UConn rejoined the BIG EAST conference prior to the 2020-2021 season.

The 2023 BIG EAST conference tournament is scheduled for March 3-6, 2023.
