There are interesting storylines and games to follow this first week. Keep your eyes on Oklahoma on the road at South Dakota on Tuesday. It should be a great women’s basketball atmosphere and debut of the “new look” Sooners under new head coach Jennie Baranczyk. On Wednesday, it is an old Missouri Valley Conference battle with Creighton at Drake, who is picked second in the preseason MVC poll. Head coach Allison Pohlman makes her regular season debut at the helm for the Bulldogs. On Veterans Day, stay tuned for Belmont at Ole Miss, an interesting match-up and test for both teams. Belmont is receiving votes in the national polls and they have a dynamic sophomore in Destinee Wells leading the way.
On Friday, there are dozens and dozens of games around the nation, but three that pique my interest as games that can help answer some questions we have about teams. Minnesota at Arizona State – will the Golden Gophers be able to move up in the Big Ten and is Lindsay Whalen able to get them on the right path? #15 ranked Tennessee goes on the road to Central Florida – Rae Burrell is the star for the Vols but UCF has three super seniors and transfers to boost their roster. Be sure to keep an eye on a neutral site match up of Louisville and Arizona in Sioux Falls, SD – there are questions to be answered but impact transfers for both teams that will be exciting to watch.
Enjoy the start of the regular season!
