Doug explains why teams like Utah (down six spots this week) and Baylor (up seven) are moving so much in the AP poll week-to-week:
“[In] the preseason poll, when people vote, it’s a combination of what they saw last year and what they’re expecting this year. And I think that Coach [Yolett McPhee-McCuin] from Ole Miss made a good point that, with the transfer portal, it’s a little more unpredictable than it was in the past because there’s so many players changing teams, and there’s so much uncertainty that it made for some unexpected results from what the poll had. …
“So … [for the] preseason top 10, people weren’t sure where to put teams or exactly where they would land. And that’s why you’ve had some, I think, major movement in the poll and upsets, so to speak, in college hoops the first two weeks of the season.”
