DiDi Richards on how her own league marketing agreement has been aligned with her off-the-court interests:
Yesterday, I did [an event with] Dick’s Sporting Goods and I got to go shopping with a lot of little kids, which I loved. I love anything dealing with children so that was straight up my alley, when they offered me that I went, “Oh absolutely, I’ll go shop with some kids, that’s two of my favorite things.” So they do a really good job at giving me options. I’m sure they do that with everybody and everybody picks what they like to do.

Richards on how a lot of the momentum of marketing and outreach in the league is thanks to the players themselves:
It’s mostly thanks to social media. I know social media brings a lot of bad, I know. But thanks to social media, we’re able to post and we’re able to show our personalities. So Sydney [Colson] … is the funniest person you’ll ever meet. And following her on Instagram, and her getting [Anita Baker] … to say “I’m gonna sing the national anthem at y’alls [opening] game next year” it’s just stuff like that, we’re able to kind of like reach out and put ourselves out there.
