The Las Vegas Aces are 17-2 with two games left before the All-Star break, which just so happens to descend on their city, Sin City, this upcoming weekend. Missy and Matthew break down the fast start, the brightest stars on the Aces roster, what they need to do to stay on track for another title run and who to watch during the 2023 All-Star festivities.

They started the conversation with one of the team’s big off-season additions, Candace Parker, and how she has fit seamlessly into the rotation so far.

“No one is there trying to be the superstar,” Matthew said of the revamped Aces squad. “They are just successful because everybody fills their role and they do things the right way. The offense runs so incredibly smoothly because everybody has the ability to go and get 20 points a night, but nobody cares who gets 20 points a night.”

Then, they discussed the other veterans like Chelsea Gray, A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum who have kept the team consistent, but still bring a fun flare to their play. Alysha Clark from Seattle was another key addition bringing nine years of WNBA experience and two championships to the roster.

“It seems like every time they go out and play, they do something brand new,” Matthew said. “It seems like having those veteran presences who have been in these situations before, who know what it takes to win not one, but two, three, four championships has allowed them to be more calm, be more collected every moment on the floor.”
